Aloe Vera – Aloe Barbadensis
Aloe Vera, also known as the medicinal aloe, is a species of succulent plant that probably originated in Northern Africa, the Canary Islands and Cape Verde. Aloe Vera grows in arid climates and is widely distributed in Africa and other arid areas.
Since Aloe Vera grows in extreme climates it has unique properties. It has been used for centuries by natives for many health purposes. Aloe plants are basically known for their power of healing various skin problems and can be used for cosmetic effects. It also helps in psoriasis, shingles, and others associated with itching also in cuts, abrasions and burns.
The gel and juices of Aloe Vera plants are anti-inflammatory which is the major reason for using it in cosmetic products. Since it is anti-inflammatory, it is soothing, toning, protecting and moisturizing the skin. Aloe Vera gel or juice can be applied to relief pains, cuts, sun burns, stings and swelling.
Aloe Vera juices or gel are used as moisturizing ingredients in cosmetics and the use of Aloe Vera in cosmetic products are so widely popular that it is now being used in almost all popular skin care products.
Studies have shown that aloe Vera speeds the healing process, particularly in burns, including those from radiation. It is also used by dermatologists to speed healing after facial dermabrasion, which helps remove scars from the top most layers of the skin. The other health benefits from the use of Aloe Vera includes soothing skin injuries affected by burning, skin irritations, cuts and insect bites. Its bactericidal properties relieve itching and skin swellings.
Aloe Vera possesses incredible moisturizing properties. Studies show that Aloe Vera improves the skin’s ability to hydrate itself, aids in the removal of dead skin cells and has an effective penetrating ability that helps transport healthy substances through the skin.
Aloe Vera is also known to help slow down the appearance of wrinkles as it can actively repair the damaged skin cells that cause the visible signs of aging. Components of Aloe Vera have been found to reverse degenerative skin changes by stimulating collagen and elastin synthesis.
Skin Health Benefit of Aloe Vera includes:
- Speeds healing, tensile strength and repair of damaged skin wounds, burns and other injuries.
- Holds moisture and adds flexibility to retard aging.
- Fights infections with its antibacterial properties including fungus and bacteria.
- Tightens and balances skin through astringent pH properties.

Vitamin A – Retinyl Palmitate/ Retinol
Vitamin A is a fat soluble vitamin that is stored in our liver. It contributes to normal growth and development while keeping our eyes, skin and immune system healthy. Vitamin A plays a key role in maintaining health.
Retinyl palmitate (vitamin A) is the normal form used for application on the skin and has great anti-ageing, superb anti-oxidant and moisturizing capabilities. It accelerates cell renewal and stimulates the fibroblast and collagen in the skin, thereby reducing wrinkles and fine lines. Due to its anti-oxidant properties, it is also a great anti-aging ingredient, and helps promote a softer smoother skin.
The topical application of vitamin A on the skin, when formulated into creams and lotions has a host of positive effects on the skin, which includes:
- Increases the activity of enzymes found in the skin.
- Stimulates the mitotic activity in the epidermis and thereby helps with the process of cell division.
- Stimulates cell proliferation in the epidermis and thereby stimulates growth.
- Helps to thicken the epidermis, which becomes thinner in aging.
- Improves the elasticity of the skin.
- Helps to normalize photo (sun) damaged skin.
- Helps in wound healing.
- Stimulates collagen formation in the skin.
- Reduces UV-induced wrinkle formation.
- Regulates keratin formation.
- It is an anti oxidant.
The inclusion of vitamin A in cosmetics have been proven and internationally accepted as being safe – but it must be noted that this refers to Retinol and Retinyl palmitate. The skin also readily absorbs topically applied vitamin A and this has been proven in various experiments. Exposure to sunlight – which includes both UVA and UVB radiation – reduces the amount of vitamin A not only in the skin, but also the blood.
Patented Silica microstructure
The patent was granted to a novel material structure, for improving skin appearance and wrinkle reduction. The material is composed of microstructres made mostly from silica tiny particles. These microstructures resemble small spheres, filled with either air or liquid, and made of double layers of silica tiny particles. Other microstructures resemble ligaments, and other are a kind of hydrogel in which the other structures are suspended. Some particles are hydrophilic, namely water-loving, and some hydrophobic, or water repelling. This duality grants special properties to the cosmetic composition made of the material: it has high affinity to the skin (which has watery and oily zones), so it remains on the skin for many hours, as an invisible layer, even after washing the skin. The material contracts after spreading, pulling the skin along and physically flattens wrinkles. The wrinkle flattening has another effect: it invigorates and revives the skin underneath the wrinkle. It also acts as micro-sponges, releasing essential, pre-loaded oils, while afterwards absorbing sweat and sebum, thus maintaining cleaner skin.
